Re: Les Mis Paramount

Well let's start out by saying that apparently today no one was made to dance, and it was basically a second EPA nobody knew about. Not that I'm annoyed Am I allowed to complain?!

Re: Les Mis Paramount

It wasn't "basically an EPA." It was still an ECC. They just cancelled the dance portion. It was still divided by gender, girls at 10, boys at 2. There was still no separate EMC list, non union and EMCs were on one list together. It pretty much changed from a dance/movement ECC to a singers ECC, which makes more sense for Les Mis anyway.

That said, cancelling the dance portion wasn't very professional and is probably illegal according to Equity rules. Plus they started half an hour early, which is DEFINITELY illegal. So yes, still a mess.

Re: Les Mis Paramount

Sorry to point fingers, but this one is pretty much completely on Actor's Equity.

The two monitors (and two superior representatives who got involved) completely misinterpreted EMC sing-up rules, sent EMC's away telling them to "check back every half hour to hour" to even put their name on the list. When people questioned, it was pretty much met with "This is the way it is." People asked to see the handbook, and when they wouldn't budge I heard a couple people went upstairs to rectify the problem. Immediately, they said "Sorry for the miscommunication, you can sign up now." This was a half hour later, and most EMCs had gone to Starbucks/French Market/back to work so people in the office started texting everyone they could to come back...and most people were pushed back much further down the list than they would've been had the rules been upheld.

That being said, Paramount was made aware of this mess and wanted to see more people. Everything they did on the ECC-day yesterday was okay'ed by Equity. Changing it to a singer's call resulted in them sitting around waiting between 11:30 and 1pm, so they came out and asked the monitors if they could just take a short lunch and start seeing the (at that point) 5 to 10 gentlemen waiting to audition. Equity approved.

Mess. Mess. Mess.

Re: Les Mis Paramount

Why would anyone ever complain about them starting early? Doesn't that just increase your ability to be seen? Isn't that them, as a producing entity, being nice and caring about those who are waiting in addition to those who are able to sign up?

Re: Les Mis Paramount

Does anyone know if they're doing ensemble callbacks? I'm just curious since it's not a heavy dance show and because of all the stuff that went down during auditions.
